Yvonne van der Heijden, a 1986 Nieman Fellow, is working as a freelance journalist based in Loon op Zand, the Netherlands. From 1979-1987 she reported from Parliament in The Hague. From 1991-1999 she was a correspondent in Beijing with the Netherlands Press Association and the Het Financieele Dagblad of Amsterdam.
