An Armenian combatant wounded in the battle between Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces for the city of Shusha is admitted at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Republican Medical Centre in Stepanakert, Azerbaijan in November 2020
Photojournalist Anastasia Taylor-Lind, a 2016 Nieman Fellow, on photographing the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict:

“I visited the emergency department of Stepanakert hospital several times during the last days of the war in Nagorno Karabakh. I spent hours waiting by the entrance, making pictures of men as they were brought from the frontline in neighboring Shushi (called Shusha by Azerbaijani’s) by ambulance. It was here that I understood, despite the contradictory official government communications, that Shushi was about to fall.”
