Tristan Ahtone, a 2018 Nieman Fellow, is a freelance reporter and member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. He has reported for outlets including The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, National Native News, Frontline, Wyoming Public Radio, Vice, the Fronteras Desk, NPR, and Al Jazeera America. He serves as Vice President for the Native American Journalists Association.
