Jon is a Senior Research Fellow of the Technology and Social Change (TaSC) Research Project based at Harvard Kennedy School's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy. He is also a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School; a Research Affiliate of Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society; and a Research Fellow at the Citizen Lab based at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Jon’s research lies at the intersection of law, technology, and human rights, with strong empirical, interdisciplinary, and social science dimensions. His work aims to understand the role of technology and digital media in public and private sector censorship, surveillance, disinformation/content moderation, legal enforcement, and other corporate/regulatory practices, and their implications for human rights. Starting in July 2020, he will be an Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto.
